Money Tree Care Instructions

1. Watering

Money Trees should be watered often and regularly! Water with two ice cubes once every one to two weeks (3 tablespoons of water). Signs of overwatering include mushy stems and root rot. Always check the soil moisture before watering.

2. Lighting

Money Trees can thrive indoors or outside with moderate sunlight. They should be placed in indirect sunlight, for at least six hours a day. Rotate your plant periodically (once a month) to keep leaves growing evenly.

3. Temperature

Your Money Tree will grow best in a space that’s between 65° to 75°F. They usually do well in average household humidity. During Winter, you can increase humidity around your money tree by placing it on top of a pebble tray filled with water.

Repot your Money Tree

Want to know the best time to repot your Money Tree? Springtime is perfect! Your tree should be repotted every two to three years or so, with a pot that has good drainage. One to two sizes bigger than the current pot should do the trick.

If you want to keep using the same planter, you can trim some root growth (be careful not to trim more than 25% of the roots) and place the plant back with fresh soil. Well-draining potting mix or some sand and gravel for extra porousness should help the soil. You can also find soil that’s made specifically for Money Tree plants!
